Diaries and journals can come in handy. They are your personal spaces where you can make notes, jot down something important, and save it for later.
Now, usually, people like to keep diaries and journals in physical form. But now that there are so many things that are being done online, it makes sense to presume that keeping a diary is also possible on the Internet.
And it is! While it may not be as fun as a physical notepad or notebook, there are ways in which you can keep an online diary. We’re going to talk about that in this post.
How can you keep a diary online?
There are two main ways in which you can keep a diary online.
- You can use an online diary application/website
- Or, you can use an online notepad
1.Using an online diary app/website
The straightforward and obvious way of keeping a diary online is to use a website that replicates the traditional “physical” experience. With an online diary app/website, you can simply sign in and make notes/journal entries. You can later access and edit them as you want.
There are some apps and sites that are available on multiple platforms. For example, they can be accessed via the browser as web-based tools. They can also be downloaded as mobile apps.
The diary and journal apps that we found online provide the feature of syncing the notes/entries. In other words, you can sign into your account, make entries, and then access them using the app/website from a different platform.
2.Using an online notepad
Now, when we have talked about online diary apps and websites, it really doesn’t make sense to talk about anything else, right? Diary apps get the job done, sure, but they usually require you to mandatorily sign up and register before you can use them.
Let’s say that you’re sitting on your PC, and you want to note something down really quickly. You could visit a diary site, but then you’ll be asked to sign up or log in. By that time, you may have just forgotten the thing you wanted to note down, or you’ll be like, “Ah, forget it.”
So, what’s the solution here? The solution is to use an online notepad instead.
Online notepads don’t usually ask you to sign up. You can load them and enter your notes in a jiffy. Most online notepads (we’ll actually mention a couple of recommended tools for you at the end of this post) use cookies to keep your entered text safe and preserved. As long as you don’t clear the cache, app data, or cookies, the text will remain safe.
Considering this, we can say that using online notepads can be a great way to keep a diary temporarily. You can, mind you, keep it for as long as you like. Ho1wever, since the storage is not in an account or in the cloud, it can be risky. If you accidentally reset the cookies or the app data, you could lose your diary.
What you could do is use an online notepad to keep the notes for a short period of time before copying them over to a secure file or cloud storage. Some online notepads—like the one we’re going to discuss in a bit—come with the best of both worlds. They keep the text secure based on browser cookies/cache, and they also offer a feature to sign up so that it can get saved on the cloud.
Recommended tools for keeping a diary online
We’ve talked about two ways in which you can keep a diary online. Now, we will talk about one tool for each method. The first one is Journey.
1.Journey.Cloud
Journey is a “diary software,” I guess we can call it, that you can use on multiple platforms. It is essentially an online journey where you can add entries and save them to the cloud.
As far as the basic diary functions go, you can do it all with this software. You can create a profile, make your journal entries, access your account from different devices, and view/change the entries whenever you want.
There is one thing to keep in mind about this software. It is not fully free. While it can be used to some extent without paying, the real full experience of the app is unlocked when you become a premium member.
Journy.Cloud is a vast number of features that you can get with this software. We’re going to list some of those before moving on.
Features of Journey.Cloud
- You can add photos and pictures in your journal entries
- You can record audio and embed them in your journal entries
- The same thing can be done with videos as well
- When making journal entries, you can format your text differently and change the font styles and sizes, etc.
2.Onlinenotepad.io
The other way of keeping an online diary that we mentioned in the post above is to use an online notepad. One good notepad that you can find on the Internet nowadays is Onlinenotepad.io.
There are many different reasons why this notepad is ideal for keeping a diary. It can save your notes on the cloud even if you don’t sign in. Once you do sign in, however, the notes get saved to your account instead.
You can then access them from any device that you want as long as you log in using your credentials. There are mobile and desktop apps available for it as well. You can sign in to all of your apps to sync the notes together.
This online notepad allows you to upload files from your local storage, download notes to your device, share them with another user online, and much more. We will list some of the main features here before wrapping this post up.
Features of Onlinenotepad.io
- It can be used as a web-based tool as well as downloadable apps
- It provides basic formatting options that you can use when writing
- It allows you to upload and download files
- It allows you to share files with other users and edit them in real-time
- It allows you to embed pictures in the notes
Conclusion
If you want to keep a diary online, it’s easy! There are different ways to do it—which we have discussed in the post above. You can either use a journalling software or just an online notepad. It’s important to pick good software for this purpose, which is why we’ve mentioned some recommendations right at the end of the post.
